Hi everyone! My name is Matisyn, I’m a 24 year old trans woman, and this year I have two long awaited gender affirming surgeries scheduled—something I never thought would be possible or within reach for me.
I began my transition around age 13, but for most of this time, access to gender-affirming care felt completely out of reach. Like so many trans people, I learned to settle, to make peace with the idea that the care I needed might never happen. But after years of uncertainty, I’ve finally been able to access good insurance for the first time in my life—and with that, the chance to take this suuuper long-overdue step for myself.
The funds raised here will help cover copays, travel, recovery time, and basic living costs while I heal. As someone who works every day helping other trans people on their own gender journeys, it’s humbling to now be in the position of asking for some support myself. Sometimes when you’re always take care of others… you forget to take care of yourself.
