Mercedes, my best friend’s daughter, was recently in a tragic accident. The mobile home she lived in caught fire, and she was trapped inside. In a desperate attempt to survive, she jumped into the bathtub, filled it with water, and waited for help. By the grace of God, she made it out alive, but she suffered internal injuries. As of this morning, the ventilator was removed; however, she remains in ICU, as most of her injuries are internal.
Mercedes lost everything in the fire — her home, belongings, and, sadly, she did not have medical insurance. She now faces a long and uncertain road to recovery.
