Michael was diagnosed with pilonidal cyst disease his freshman year of high school. After several attempts to get this under control, it was a failure which resulted in surgery. Michael had his first surgery in May of 2024. The incision never closed and fully healed. He has been going to a wound care specialist for over 6 months with no success in the incision closing. As a young man, this is extremely hard on him as he is bleeding daily from this open wound in an area and not able to do things such as swimming or sports. Michael will be having surgery again, after following the orders of a specialist in New Orleans. We are looking at an 8-week recovery time, wound care weekly to make sure it’s healing properly and no infection sets in, and then after he is healed, he will have to undergo laser hair removal in the area of the cyst as this is a disease and the cyst could come back. As you can imagine, the medical bills we have already acquired and the new ones soon to come. Michael was eager to get a job this summer, but now that will be put on hold as his summer again will be used to have surgery and heal. Anything helps, even if you share his story with others. Thank you – from his mother that’s just trying to do the best she can for her son.
