Our beloved mother, Roxsana V. Almeida, succumbed to breast cancer on the morning of July 24, 2026. She finally rests and has been freed of an illness that, year after year, takes the lives of many loved ones.
We witnessed perhaps the most courageous fight and throughout an almost two decade-long battle, we never saw fear in her eyes. Instead, we saw a lioness with an unwavering determination to win, to survive so that she could continue to be the best daughter, the best sister, the best aunt, and above all, the best mother.
Prayers, a relentless determination to live, and her faith in God were undoubtedly part of the algorithm that thrust our mother forward through all adversity. She embodied strength, resilience, compassion, kindness, generosity, humility, and unconditional love. These are forever-resonating attributes, and they will serve as guardrails for my brother and I as we navigate life without her.
Our mother had a unique smile, and it was contagious as all who witnessed it were sure to reciprocate. Her laughter was like that of a sweet melody that somehow brought daylight even in the darkest of times.
One can never prepare for such a great loss, and while my brother and I grieve, we still must make every effort to provide funeral services worthy of a remarkable human being. We kindly, and respectfully, ask for donations so that we can celebrate our mother’s life and legacy with funeral services and so that we can provide her with a dignified burial.
