My name is Christa, and I’m fundraising on behalf of my incredible niece, who is currently fighting for her life. She’s battling severe anorexia and urgently needs to enter a residential treatment center — but she’s facing overwhelming medical costs with no insurance, no financial aid, and no income now due to the severity of her condition.
It is very difficult for us to reach out for help from others, but we know we can’t do this alone and are humbly asking for your help to raise $65,000 to get her the life-saving care she desperately needs and deserves.
**FULL STORY**
My niece, is one of the most intelligent, compassionate, and resilient young women I know. She’s a graduate student currently pursuing a doctorate. However, recently a family tragedy severely altered her life and she lost a younger brother to suicide. After trying to battle the emotional distress from her loss, she is now fighting **severe anorexia**, a devastating and life-threatening illness that affects both the body and mind.
Recently, her condition worsened to the point where outpatient treatment is no longer enough, losing nearly 40lbs in just a few short weeks. Doctors have strongly recommended admission to a **residential treatment center**, where she can receive the intensive, round-the-clock care she needs to begin true recovery. She has found an immediate opening for treatment, and she is willing to get the help she needs. She just simply cannot afford it on her own. The treatment facility does not take medicaid or any state funded assistance and therefore she is left with paying for all expenses out of pocket. Treatment costs tally up to around $32,000/month.
Here’s the heartbreaking part:
Because she had to pause her graduate studies due to her illness, she lost her student insurance, is no longer eligible for financial aid, and is currently unable to work. This means she’s facing enormous medical expenses **with no financial safety net**.
**Your support will help cover:**
* Residential treatment program costs
* Medical and nutritional rehabilitation
* Therapy and psychiatric care
* Basic living expenses during recovery
This is a medical emergency — anorexia has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, and without treatment, things could get worse very quickly. But with the right care, recovery is absolutely possible — and we’re determined to help her get there.
If you’re able to donate, even a small amount can bring us closer to giving her the chance to heal. If you’re not able to give, **sharing this campaign** is also a powerful way to help.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you. Your support means the world to our family, and especially to my darling niece.
With sincere gratitude,
Christa
