Hello,
My name is Marilyn, and I’m writing this as a grandmother with a heart full of love and a burden heavier than I ever imagined I’d carry. My first grandchild, Ezra Logan Isaac, has been fighting for his life since the moment he was born on November 22, 2024.
Ezra came into this world with a form of cardiomyopathy, a condition that left his heart too weak to support his growing body. He has never known life outside of a hospital. He’s coded, meaning his heart stopped, twice. Once for 45 minutes, and again for 15. By the grace of God and the incredible staff of doctors and nurses, he was revived both times.
He’s undergone multiple surgeries. He was placed on ECMO (a form of life support), and now he is connected to a BiVAD, a device that’s helping both sides of his heart pump blood. Right now, we’re waiting and praying for the miracle of a new heart.
Ezra’s parents, my daughter Amber and her husband Anthony, have uprooted their lives to be near the hospital in Gainesville. They moved from Kissimmee and are staying in Gainesville just to be close to their baby boy. Anthony took a leave from work to stay with Ezra full-time. Amber, after taking some time off, is now back to work. Every weekend, Anthony makes the trip back to Kissimmee to check on the house and be with their other two children, AJ and Isabella.
As you can imagine, the financial strain is overwhelming. Between travel expenses, meals, bills, lost wages, and the unknown costs surrounding Ezra’s heart transplant and long-term care, it’s a burden no family should bear alone. That’s why we are humbly asking for your support.
I wish I could put into words how joyful Ezra is. He smiles so much the nurses call him the happiest baby they’ve ever seen in the ICU. Despite all the machines, tubes, and struggles, he beams with life. His strength humbles me. The resilience of children like Ezra is nothing short of miraculous.
As a mother, watching my daughter go through this breaks my heart daily. Watching Ezra fight like this breaks it all over again. I can’t take away their pain, but I can ask for help.
I’d like to share this prayer with you all:
Lord, thank You for the resilient spirit You’ve placed in children like Ezra. Even in suffering, their joy shines through. Please sustain Ezra, body, mind, and spirit, as he waits for his new heart. Strengthen Amber and Anthony, give them rest, peace, and hope. Let every person who reads this feel Your call to love, to act, and to stand with us in faith. Amen.
If you feel moved, please consider donating and sharing this page with your friends and family. Every little bit makes a difference. Thank you for standing with us in this fight for Ezra’s life. We love you all.
With gratitude,
Marilyn (Ezra’s Grandma)
