Help Keep Stormy’s Family by Her Side as She Fights Leukaemia 3000km from Home
Every dollar you give helps my little girl face another day with her family by her side.
We are a family from Kalumburu, a small remote Aboriginal community in the far north of Western Australia, accessible only by air or long, rough roads. It takes over 34 hours to drive from Kalumburu to Perth.
Last year, at just 2 years of age, my baby, Stormy (Nina-Jayne) was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukaemia (JMML) — a very rare childhood blood cancer that required immediate treatment.
When Stormy was diagnosed, our entire world changed overnight. Our family had no option but to leave everything behind — our home, our community — and travel over 3,000 kilometres to Perth, so she could receive urgent and ongoing treatment at the Perth Children’s Hospital.
Stormy now undergoes chemotherapy every month — five consecutive days of Azacitidine, delivered via IV. This procedure is coupled with horrible side effects that are utterly soul destroying for us to witness. She also takes oral chemotherapy (Trematinib) every single day, with no known end date. A possible stem cell transplant from a sibling is our greatest hope — but we are still waiting on results.
Stormy needs more than just medicine — she needs her family with her.
The emotional toll on our family is immense. But what’s also crushing us is the financial pressure of trying to keep our family together in a city far from home.
We are struggling to cover the basic costs of survival:
Groceries
Transport
Clothing
Rent (when not supplied)
There is still another year of treatment ahead, and returning home, in the near future, isn’t an option.
My name is Tarlena, I’m Stormy’s mum, and I’m asking you from the bottom of my heart:
Please donate whatever you can to this fundraiser and help keep Stormy and our family (mum, dad and two small sisters) stay together. Stormy shouldn’t have to fight cancer alone, and we shouldn’t be forced to choose between staying by her side and affording to live in Perth.
Your generosity makes a real, immediate difference.
Every donation — big or small — goes directly to helping our beautiful family stay strong, united, and focused on what truly matters: saving Stormy’s life.
If you’re in a position to give, please do. Your kindness could help cover rent, food or a train ride to the hospital.
Let’s give Stormy the gift of healing with mum and dad beside her every step of the way.
Thank you for your compassion, your support, and your belief in the power of community.
