Support a Family Overcoming Tragedy and Illness

I am a father of 2 boys(4yrs & 18yrs). They mean the world to me and my wife. We both work two jobs and still struggle to make ends meet. We have had alot of tragedy in our lives over the last few years. Lock down brought our family nothing but hardships. First my neice overdosed on fentanyl. Then shortly after my sister took her own life. It wasn’t all bad our son was born not too long after in good health and good hands. Then it was time for everyone to return to work. So we decided as a family to get vaccinations for COVID. Then we all got sick… with COVID. I was asymptomatic so I keep my distance and continue about my normal work routine. About a week later I am hospitalized with extreme abdominal pain. I find out that I am sick with COVID and that it has built up in my gallbladder to the point of rupture. So I enter emergency surgery. Everything goes well. My recovery is fast and easy. Three weeks out I notice extreme swelling in my feet. I down play it thinking I have been working alot of extra shifts. I will be fine once I get some R&R. Wrong my legs follow suit with my feet. So now my legs and feet are almost 3x the size the normally should be. I continue to work while looking for some kind of an explanation or solution. Then the worst happens. They split open and begin to flood out with mix fluid of blood, puss, and plasma. That is hospital visit number two for me in less than a year. I get treatment and go home. I have no insurance during this time so I manage the best I can out of pocket. I return to work the same day I leave the hospital. I do the best I can but in 6 months I am back in the hospital again. This time I manage to get insurance but it gets messed up by the rep who helped set it up and I am out of pocket again. So here I am upon release needing to continue the cash flow. So I go right back to work. Things go better a little longer this time but this is also when we find out my mother in law has stage 4 cancer. The added responsibility just around our home from my wife’s absence places a heavy strain on me. Sure enough my health begins to fail again and I return to the hospital. During this stay I am finally fully insured so it is a much better experience and my recovery goes much smoother. However during my time at the hospital my mother in law is admitted in terminal condition. She is no longer with us by the time I am released. My healing since has been going very well. But the hits keep coming. Just two months after mom passed away, my father in law has a car accident and breaks his back in 4 places. My family and I are sitting on a mountain of debt and have people that depend on us.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
