I’m writing this as Alannah’s sister to share her story and offer a space for those who wish to support her during this time.
Alannah has just come through an incredibly difficult chapter. After six weeks in the hospital, enduring dozens of labs and tests to diagnose severe infections, multiple invasive procedures, and major lung surgery, she is now beginning her recovery.
This journey has tested her strength and spirit. As she returns home to heal, she faces new challenges: recovering from major surgery (a process that will take months), and being unable to work for the time being.
For those who know Alannah, you know her as someone with a big heart and a deep well of positivity and generosity, always quick to give to others. Though she has basic medical insurance, it does not come close to covering the extensive costs of her hospital stay, ongoing follow-up tests, physiotherapy, and proper in-home recovery care she needs during this challenging time.
