As many know, on June 17th, Brad underwent a craniotomy to remove the large tumor located in the frontal lobe of his brain. The surgery was a success by all accounts, however he is now experiencing something called Sensory Motor Area Syndrome. The tumor was very close to his motor pathways. He is having difficulty communicating, and his brain is essentially ignoring the left side of his body. At the recommendation of his care team, on June 20th, he will be discharged to KU inpatient rehab. There, he will have intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapies. We are unsure just how long he will be there, but we are told to expect at least two weeks. Anyone lucky enough to know Brad, knows how resilient and determined he can be so we have the highest of hopes that he will be back to baseline before we know it!
Brad and Ashely are facing many unexpected costs and medical bills following his surgery. Let’s help to make this time easier for them, and ensure that Brad’s family can be by his side during his recovery!
