Raising funds to help asthma proof our home. She is in the hospital more times than any kid should ever be. Camila has missed so much school, she’s been in the Pediatric intensive care unit and admitted onto the peds floor so many times now I’ve lost count because of her asthma. She gets sick- hospital. She goes outside to the pool and plays for a few hours- hospital(poor air quality). If I take her to the nature trails- hospital(pollen allergies). Anyone with an animal comes near her-hospital(deathly allergic to animals). The list goes on and she’s just trying to live her life as a 7 year old girl.
This recent admission to the hospital (06/25) and long talks with her pulmonary team have agreed we have a plan of action that can help her, a costly one!
We need HEPA filters throughout the home. Change the a/c and heating filters OFTEN. Humidifiers running 24/7 to keep the air humidity at 50% at all times. Here’s the hard one, we have to rehome our therapy dog and our other dog. (She has two autistic brothers that these dogs mean the world to them but it’s got to be done, her health means more to us and we will find a way to fill this void for our boys) We need to add plants, specifically snake plants to the house that naturally cleanse the air of toxins and promote good quality air.
The cost of these HEPA purifiers is not cheap, and we need several. We will be surrendering the dogs to a no-kill beagle shelter that charges $250 per dog. Several humidifiers and a hygrometer for the inside of our home.
She’s coming home with a regime of medication and to be honest, I’m not sure what insurance will cover, they had a tendency to deny her meds that can cost upwards of $600 each.
It’s just A LOT and these things need to happen asap. I have my online shop that doesn’t make nearly enough to cover these things. Any help we can get will be deeply appreciated.
