Hi, my name is Mikaela Gallegos, and I am reaching out during a difficult time, hoping for the community’s support.
On may 29th, 2025, after months of unexplained illness and deteriorating health, my husband Chris Gallegos was admitted to the hospital. By the next morning he was fighting for his life. He was intubated and airlifted to the University of Colorado Hospital, diagnosed with a MRSA blood infection, kindey failure, and eventually lupus.
Chris spent over a week on life support. On June 7th they were able to take him off his breathing tube and wake him up. Through we’re grateful for every step forward, his road to recovery is just beginning.
Chris remains hospitalized and is still very sick. His body has been through so much, and he has lost nearly all his strength. Once he is stable enough, I was told he will require rehabilitation to regain basic mobility and function. We still don’t know if his kidneys will fully recover or what the long term care might look like.
Anyone who knows Chris knows he’s always been a strong, hardworking man-someone who never hesitates to help others. Unfortunately, he has been unable to work for nearly two months, and as you can imagine, the financial strain is overwhelming. We are doing everything we can, but the cost of bills and everyday expenses are backing up and becoming more than we can manage alone.
I’m humbly asking for support during this unimaginable time. Whether it’s $5 or $50, any contribution will go directly towards helping Chris with back bills, rehabilitation and recovery costs, everyday living expenses while Chris cannot work, and any medical bills his insurance may not cover.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page. Every bit helps!!
Thank you.
With gratitude,
The Gallegos Family
