Dear Friends, Family, and Our Fantastic Community,
I hope this message finds you well. Reaching out for help is never easy, but sometimes life’s challenges leave us with no other choice. As you may know, recently our family was confronted by a medical emergency that requires hospital stays, surgeries, and treatments beyond our current financial means.
At the end of May, Terry was involved in an unfortunate motorcycle accident. Terry had to be placed under a medically induced coma due to the trauma, just so that emergency staff could perform the necessary scans to assist in stopping the bleeding and to fully assess the situation at hand. Terry then had to undergo an immediate 6-hour reconstructive surgery, just to begin piecing him back together. Terry has suffered several fractures to his face, neck, and spine, broken/missing teeth, cuts and bruises all over his body, and is considered medically to be suffering from a traumatic brain injury that has caused some ongoing complications.
We (his family) are very blessed that he is still with us, but Terry will have an incredible journey ahead of him on the road to recovery. This journey will include an extended stay in the hospital in the intensive care unit, various forms of therapy, additional surgeries to be performed just so that he can go back to living a normal life, all the while family will have to take care of him until he is recovered.
As you already know, Terry (with Jamie) are the owners of a small restaurant called Rum Runners Cafe located in the City of Kettering, that is just now coming up on its first-year anniversary. We often give back to our local community through our dine-to-donate events, as well as donating to auctions to support those in need. I (Jamie) am here full-time in Terry’s place until he can return to keep the restaurant thriving and going not only for our family but for our fantastic staff. In order to keep things alive here, I have had to put in a leave of absence at my other job, which is in turn making the possibility of covering the increasing medical bills impossible for Terry’s care.
We are asking if those in our community, family, and friends would please donate to help ease the burden of the increasing medical costs.
