On June 14th, my son Giovanni (John) suffered a serious fall that resulted in three fractures in his jaw and a fracture to his temporal bone. He is currently undergoing emergency surgery, and faces a long and difficult recovery, including his jaw being wired shut, a restricted diet, possible hearing loss, and significant pain.
This has been a devastating time for our family. On top of the emotional weight, the family is now facing unexpected medical bills, lost income, and caregiving responsibilities. John’s wife, Kelsey, is also still recovering from a concussion while caring for their two children—and now managing a medical crisis she never imagined, after just losing her mother three weeks ago.
