Hi, My name is Angela Robinette, I’m creating a fundraiser on behalf of my sister-in-law, Jessica Carter, to support her, her husband Robert ( Buddy ) and daughter Gabrielle, as they face a life-altering medical crisis. To help lift some of the weight off their shoulders and allow them to focus on what matters most: Getting answers and finding treatment
Jessica is a 41 year old who never imagined losing her independence and mobility this quickly — but she’s still here, still fighting and putting all of her trust in the Lord
Over the past several months (almost 10), her life has been completely changed by a severe and rapidly progressing neurological and autoimmune illness that has left her unable to walk without a wheelchair, struggling with daily symptoms, and still fighting for a clear diagnosis and proper treatment. She was dependent upon a rollator walker before the need for the wheelchair rapidly happened.
After months of delays, medical gaslighting, and worsening disability, She has finally been scheduled for hospital admission this coming Monday at the WVU Neuroscience Center where she will undergo 4 to 5 MRIs, each taking an hour to complete, as doctors investigate conditions like Multiple Sclerosis, CNS lupus, or other autoimmune neurological diseases affecting the central nervous system.
What She Is Facing:
• She is now in a wheelchair every day
• She suffers from heat-triggered neurological flares, limb weakness, vision issues, memory loss, tremors, and a deep fatigue that is disabling
• Lesions have already been found in her brain, but she is still waiting on full imaging of her spine and brainstem
• She experiences episodes of dangerously low body temperature (in the 96°F range), unusual sweating, and severe nausea — all signs of possible autonomic nervous system involvement
• She’s had to fight for every test, every referral, and she is still without a confirmed diagnosis
Through it all, her husband and daughter has taken on the role as her full-time caregivers. Her husband has had to miss work to drive her to every doctor, test, and emergency visit — often hours away. Her daughter has stepped up in incredible ways during this journey. She helps her daily with tasks that she can no longer manage on her own like assisting around the house and supporting her emotionally through the hardest days. For someone her age, her daughter carries a lot. They are trying to hold everything together while facing a steep financial and physical toll.
How You Can Help:
First and Foremost PRAYERS!!
Your support will help them with:
• Travel costs to and from WVU hospitals and long-distance medical appointments
• Out-of-pocket medical expenses, supplies, and prescriptions
• Mobility aids, home care needs, and temporary adjustments
• Lost income while her husband takes care of her or misses work for appointments
• Basic expenses like meals, gas, and parking during her upcoming hospital stay
Every share, every donation, every prayer matters. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for walking alongside us.
