Hi,
I’m a senior citizen with disabilities and no car. I recently broke my only smartphone—a 2023 Moto G Play—after many months of wear and tear. I didn’t have a protective case or screen cover, and eventually I dropped it, shattering the screen.
Because I rely on a deeply discounted $18/month phone plan (no longer available to new customers), I’m trying to replace the same model so my SIM card will fit and continue working with that service.
Right now, I’m using a temporary flip phone that has a camera but no video, so I can’t use it for things like telemedicine appointments, which I rely on due to chronic pain. It also can’t run basic apps like Uber. I receive paratransit taxi vouchers, but I can’t use them without a smartphone, which means I’m currently unable to get to the store or the library.
I don’t want to ask for more than necessary, so I’m aiming to raise just enough to cover:
A new 2023 Moto G Play: $119
Protective case and screen protector: $20
Taxes and shipping: $15
Total: $154
