Support for Kathy and Her Family
Hi, my name is Christy, and I’m Kathy’s sister-in-law. My husband Robert is Kathy’s brother, and together we’re organizing this fundraiser to help support Kathy, Corey, and their family through a heartbreaking and unexpected medical crisis.
Kathy was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) — a sudden and life-changing diagnosis no one saw coming. After not feeling well for a while, she went to the ER, where tests revealed the news that changed everything. She was quickly transferred to the Cancer Institute at UT Hospital, where she has begun chemotherapy and will need to remain for at least a month.
In addition to starting treatment, Kathy is also battling pneumonia and awaiting the results of a bone marrow biopsy that will help guide her care moving forward.
Kathy and her husband Corey are doing their best to stay strong for their daughters — 6-year-old Malaya, and 21-year-old Ashley, who is caring for her own 14-month-old daughter while navigating the fear of seeing her mom so sick. This was meant to be a summer filled with celebrations and family time, but everything has shifted to focus on Kathy’s healing.
While Kathy does have insurance, the extent of coverage is still uncertain, and the financial stress is growing. Missed work means missed income, and the last thing this family should have to worry about right now is keeping up with bills or basic expenses.
We created this fundraiser to help ease the burden — so Kathy and her family can focus on what truly matters: her health, her treatment, and staying together through it all. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference. If you’re not in a position to give, sharing this page is just as meaningful.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity, love, and support. It means more than words can say.
