Over the last several months my mom (Kim Warmbier or “Gigi” to her 7 grandkids) has struggled with breathing problems. She visited the urgent care several times with what doctors assumed was pneumonia. However, in the beginning of May she visited a new doctor who sent her for tests that revealed cancer in her lungs. We quickly found that the cancer had spread all over her body with masses in her liver, spine, breasts, and has spread to her blood, bones, and lymphatic system. This is stage four cancer, so we are realistic about the outcome. We remain hopeful that the doctor’s plan of chemo and radiation can give us more time with her. So far she has undergone one round of chemo as well as multiple surgeries to remove blood clots and assist with her difficulty breathing.
My parents depend on her work as their primary source of income, and she has no life insurance. This sudden diagnosis and the resulting medical procedures will leave my parents with medical debt that will be crippling as they try to navigate an already horrific situation. Please consider donating so that they can focus on the road ahead of them with one less worry on their minds.
