My name is Kayla Meyers and I am raising funds for my mother & stepfather, Laura & Tex.
My mother was diagnosed with cellulitis, cervical dystonia, degenerative disc disease, plaque psoriasis and she also has multiple fractures in her pelvis. Prior to this she had surgery for a tumor that was found on her brain. As you can imagine it has been very difficult for her to work whilst suffering from the effects of all of these tragedies, though she has tried to continue working. Doctors have ordered her to no longer work due to risk of intensifying complications of the disorders/diagnoses and causing her further, irreversible injuries. Due to a fall, my mother has been restrained to a wheelchair for several weeks and has difficulty completing daily tasks. Throughout her own struggles, she still continues to love and support her husband through his medical disorders as well.
Tex suffers from very painful Diabetic Neuropathy. This disease has caused poor perfusion to his body- most often his feet. Overtime, poor perfusion has caused his feet to lack the blood and oxygen supply that they need. Tex has had several amputations as the tissues around his toes have become necrotic (died). Necrotic tissue if not treated properly and vastly, can lead to deadly infections in the bloodstream. Tex has complications with walking far distances and bearing weight on his feet due to this condition. He takes elevated doses of medication for this, but the pain is still unbearable at times. Tex was also diagnosed with Stage 2 Kidney Disease. This condition in coherence with Diabetes has caused awful wounds amongst Tex’s body and he has previously been treated for a MRSA infection.
As my parents are both unable to work due to medical conditions, they have struggled to make ends meet. Any and all donations will be utilized to ensure they do not lose their home, they have ample groceries and pet food/supplies, and their medical needs/bills are covered.
Please note that if you are able to make physical donations, accommodations will be arranged to send those items to Laura & Tex’s home.
