Michael Zenobia, a dedicated ER nurse, has tragically lost his leg after a car vs. motorcycle accident at the end of May. Michael was doing what he loved when this happened. He was taking a ride on his motorcycle, headed to the gym when a vehicle hit him, leaving him with a broken leg. What was thought to be a simple, yet still unfortunate injury turned into something much more complex. Michael suffered from compartment syndrome (this causes loss of blood flow to the limb), and after about a week of trying to salvage healthy muscle in his leg, it was determined an above-the-knee amputation (AKA) was the best option. Michael is doing well despite this drastic life change and is optimistic that he will recover and live the best life he possibly can while adjusting to his new normal.
He has been a member of our ER family for a few years now and is a great friend to many of us. Michael is a wonderful nurse and brings many years of experience to our ER. He spends his days caring for others, and now it’s our turn to care for him. We are hoping to lessen the financial burden of this new life change and to help Michael in any way we can. He is greatly missed by us all, and the ER isn’t the same without him. We appreciate all donations, prayers, and sharing this post.
