A friend lost his fiancé (25 years old) when she followed a mountain guide while on vacation and fell to her death. They both died. She was on vacation in southern Argentina and trusted the guide who had 10 years experience. My friend, Rueben, has been totally devastated. He had taken out a loan of $10,000 in his name, in part to pay for her trip and to provide a better life for her and himself, while he continued to work in construction. This was only part of his difficulties which have include: paying for her body to be transported back home, the funeral, burial, dealing with her belongings, other miscellaneous bills and his loss of work along with, understandably, deep depression. A couple other friends besides myself have pitched in to comfort him and help him financially, but it is not enough. I knew April and was shaken to tears when I heard the news. She was a delightful, vibrant, positive person with many friends. She loved and supported Ruben in a fairytale kind of way, and truly, Ruben will carry the burden of losing her the rest of his life. I’m just trying to make things a little more bearable for him. Ruben has been an all around fix-it/construction man for me for over 4 years. He’s been hard working, caring, innovative and honest, and we’ve developed a friendship that’s more like a brotherhood. He’s one of the very few people I would trust with my life. Any and every donation will go directly to him. Thanks for your understanding and support.
