Two weeks ago, our family suffered the heartbreaking loss of Shawn Williamson. While we continue to grieve, we are also facing the unexpected financial burden of giving him the farewell he deserves. Our mom was Shawn’s greatest source of love and support. She stood by him through every challenge as he lived with schizophrenia. She never gave up on him, and now she is carrying the weight of his funeral expenses.
Shawn loved creating music and was always coming up with new ideas. He was deeply expressive and creative, always bringing his own unique perspective to the world. One memory that stays with us is when Shawn told our mom that living with schizophrenia felt like living in a nightmare every day. Hearing those words broke her heart. While we are devastated by his loss, there is comfort in knowing that Shawn is finally at peace and no longer has to battle the mental illness that affected so much of his life.
