Good Day All! This is Mike Burrell and I am setting up this fundraiser that will benefit Shelley (BA ’86) and Marty Stubblefield (BA ’87). For those who do not know Shelley has had a significant medical issue recently and has not been able to work, thus putting some financial strain on her and her husband Marty. For those who do not know, Shelley has not been able to work, and Marty has his own business but has had to step away from it frequently to help care for Shelley.
In a nutshell, Shelley was on a family trip to see her nephew graduate from Marine Corp Boot Camp. While returning from this trip they decided to take a hike through Carver Cave in New Mexico. During this time Shelley started having walking and speaking difficulties, but they were still able to return to Broken Arrow. Upon getting back Shelley got worse over all so they decided it was time for a trip to the ER. After 3 days and lots of tests, she went home with no answers other than it “night have been” a mild stroke.
After a few days more at home Shelley had to return to the hospital, this time getting admitted, with continued stroke-like symptoms. After a 20 day stay, MANY more tests, and finding of matter on her brain, they just very recently got a diagnosis of High Grade B-cell Lymphoma with MYC and BLC6 arrangements. This is a type of brain cancer.
Shelley currently requires 24/7 care and as mentioned, this has placed a significant burden on their family. It is clear Marty and the family would do anything possible to be able to care for Shelley as best they can and give her every chance to get better and recover comfortably.
Shelley and Marty are good folks so if you have the means they would greatly appreciate any help you can give. Marty has asked me to be the point man on this so I will be collecting funds in my savings account and forwarding all monies to them. If anyone is concerned about the money trail I will be glad to meet with you and show any and all transactions. I am appreciative that Marty trusts me as well (although he may be a bit technology-challenged ;). Again, God Bless All and thanks from the Stubblefields and myself for and all support offered.
