Hey friends! My name’s Lexi. I am Tammy’s youngest daughter. As some of you may know, my mom Tammy was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Adenocarcinoma on February 16, 2025.
To share a bit of her story, she went in for a routine primary visit and with a chest scan, they found a 2.5cm nodule on the left lung. She followed up with a pulmonologist for a biopsy that resulted in a pneumothorax (collapsed lung), requiring a chest tube. Not too long after, my mom began to experience SEVERE subcutaneous emphysema (air within the soft tissues beneath the skin) due to poor tube placement. She became unstable, and they quickly transferred her to ICU where they had to place an emergency chest tube 10 times the size of the original. She felt everything. During that time, the doctor came in and destroyed us with the results of the biopsy. Lung cancer.
Tammy is now going through chemotherapy with four 6-hour treatments and lung surgery to follow.
It has been a long journey that isn’t even over yet, but those of you who know my mom know she is the strongest, most hard-headed woman you’ll ever meet, and she WILL get through this. #TenaciousT #TammyStrong #FuckCancer
