For the last 3 weeks, along with his 28th birthday, Malik has been in the hospital fighting for answers and struggling to recover from what doctors believe is a rare severe case of Polymyositis with biopsies revealing ‘Myonecrosis with rare regenerating fibers and focal atrophy.’ This sudden onset came with no warning signs but rather a devastating impact on Malik’s life, health, and financial abilities to get the proper care and treatment to battle this extremely debilitating illness that has caused him to lose 30 pounds in 3 weeks, mobility in all extremities, and difficulty swallowing with feeds through a G-tube.
