I’m setting up this fundraiser for my beautiful friend Shay, who just turnt 25 and currently in the fight of her life.
She has severe neurological Lyme disease, along with Bartonella, Babesia, and viral co-infections. These infections have spread to her brain, heart, vision, nervous system, and immune system. Shes already had many many weeks of intravenous antibiotics, but is now completely disabled and having very scary neurological symptoms, now she’s in urgent need of specialist treatment that is not available on the NHS. She’s on heavy seizure and pain medications, but it doesn’t stop the disease progressing. Shay was misdiagnosed and untreated for too long. Her condition has now progressed into a complex, late-stage, multi-system illness that requires advanced, specialist care, unfortunately care that simply doesn’t exist in the public system here in the UK.
She has lost everything in a second from one tick bite. This is one of the most serious and heartbreaking things I’ve ever witnessed.
Shay has been accepted for a specialist treatment program in Germany, one of the only clinics in the world that offers intensive, life-saving care for patients like her.
This isn’t a luxury or a wellness retreat, this is her last chance to stop the infection from progressing any further. Without this intervention, her condition will continue to worsen, and she risks more permanent damage and severe organ failure. The treatments are aggressive, and it won’t be an easy road to recovery, but atleast we’ll regain hope.
Shay didn’t want to ask for any help, she’s already lost everything and had further financial debts to pay for private doctors, and half of the treatment, so I took it onto my own hands.
