Wayne’s Urgent Journey to Recovery

My name is Amanda and I am Barbara’s daughter. We are raising funds to help get my mom’s fiancé, Wayne, home. They set off on a 4-week road trip from South Florida to Pennsylvania to visit family along the East Coast. Everything was great until the end of the trip when Wayne began to feel sick. My mom decided to end the trip early to head home. They only made it to Lexington, KY when my mom had to call 911. Wayne has been admitted to the hospital for over 5 weeks. He was on a ventilator for over a week and had to have emergency surgery. He went from being completely independent to requiring total assistance. My mom has spent every day at his side, sleeping in the hospital room. Wayne is improving and finally ready to leave the hospital to go to rehab to regain his strength, but his insurance will not pay for rehab in Kentucky. They desperately need to get back to Florida. Wayne needs non-emergency medical transport to get back to South Florida. Any amount you can donate makes a huge difference. If you cannot contribute financially, please share this campaign with your friends, groups, and on your social networks. Unity can make miracles happen!

This has been a traumatic experience for Wayne and Barbara who are both veterans. Imagine this medical nightmare happening and then think about being so far from home. We are desperate to get them home. I want to thank the incredible staff at Baptist Health who have taken such good care of them both.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
